A New Perspective.
Another physiogram with a slight modification.
How it works.
Changed my swinging apparatus to eliminate wobble and the light lines are much more consistent.
Taped some gels (8×8) together for a smoother transition of color as I pull them across the lens.
Makes this image an almost total “in camera” creation.
Sharpened, tweaked levels and adjusted color saturation in Lightroom.
And Most Importantly…
Changed the view of the arc of the swing by moving the camera off to the side instead of being directly below the light.
All C&C welcome.
- -Really nice, Steve.
I have questions (of course )
How far is the light from your camera?
About 2 ft. using 14mm full frame. You would adjust this to get the swing within the frame with different length lens.
F/22 = huge Depth of Field w/14mm
If I’m understanding you correctly, you have gels over the camera lens. You move these during the exposure?
Yes, you can also fashion some for the light(s) (Made some today)
I’ve heard of people moving the camera during the exposure as well. Have you tried that?
Yes, Made a turntable and powered it with an extra drill I have via a bike inner-tube.
Used it, but still a work in progress.
What does your new and improved swinging apparatus look like?
Used a solid shaff (threaded rod) instead of line or string.
This is attached at ceiling to a ball bearing fishing swivel.
Helped get rid of a wobble during the beginning of a swing.
Did you weight it?
Nope. Next variation involves mutiple lights ROTATING on the shaft.
Oh, and a big swing for the camera platform… Really!!
Can I come over to your house and play?
Anytime, just BYOFL (bring your own flashlight)
Can you tell I’m having fun?
